Garlicky Steak and Asparagus
2 servings
Prep: 15 minutes
Table Top Electric Grill: 3 to 4 minutes

Grilling-Table Top Electric Grill
(Conventional method found at the bottom of this screen)

Ingredients:
1 12- to 14-oz. boneless beef top loin (strip) steak, cut about 3/4 inch thick
1 or 2 large cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
1/2 tsp. cracked or coarsely ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
8 to 10 thin asparagus spears, trimmed (6 oz.)
2 tsp. garlic-flavored olive oil or olive oil
1/2 cup beef broth (canned is good)
1/4 tsp. Dijon-style mustard

Directions:
1. Rub the steak on both sides with a mixture of the garlic, pepper, and salt, pressing in the mixture with your fingers. Place the asparagus in a shallow dish and drizzle with the oil. For sauce, in a medium skillet stir the broth. Cook over high heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until mixture is reduced to 1/4 cup. Whisk in mustard; keep warm.

2. Preheat an Indoor Electric Grill on high setting, if available. Place steak on the grill rack. If using a covered grill, close lid. Grill until steak is desired doneness. (For a covered grill, allow 3 to 4 minutes for medium rare or 5 to 7 minutes for medium. For an uncovered grill, allow 6 to 8 minutes for medium rare or 8 to 10 minutes for medium, turning steak once.) If space allows, add asparagus to covered grill for the last 2 to 3 minutes or for uncovered grill the last 4 to 5 minutes of grilling. Cook asparagus until crisp-tender.*

3. Spoon sauce on serving plate. Cut steak in half crosswise. Serve steak halves atop sauce with asparagus on top. Makes 2 servings.

*Note: The asparagus cooking time will vary with the size of asparagus. Also, if there is no room on the grill, the asparagus can be grilled after the steak.

(Conventional Method:
Prepare as above through Step 1.
Place steak on the unheated rack of a broiler pan.
Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat (flame-bottom part of your stove) for 8 to 10 minutes for medium rare or 10 to 12 minutes for medium, turning once and adding asparagus to the rack of the broiler pan the last 2 minutes of broiling. Be sure to clean well so it will not smell up your home next time you use the oven.)

Change your steak & it will be better…… Not meaning this mean!!! I was a meat cutter for 6yrs. Try a Rib eye(or spencer steak, the old timers will know what you are talking about) that is a prime rib cut into steaks. My fav!! But also a new york steak will be good. Which is your T-bone without the bone. Good recipe

I believe it was left on for too long. I came home and saw it plugged in but the 'on' light was not lit up (these grills don't have an on off switch). I called the company for help to no avail. They don't have a troubleshooting guide, and the website only offers the instruction manual with a few recipes. The company offered to send me a new one for $25, but I'd rather fix it myself. I opened it up to take a look, but nothing looks burnt. All the wires are clean. Should I test the wires with an electric current meter?
I have found the thermal fuse and am about to get an Ohm meter to check if it is blown. If it is blown, however, how should I go about replacing it? It is attached to the wires (does not look soldered) by two small gold clamps. Should I cut the wire? Will the new fuse come with new clamps?

The first place to start is the thermal fuse. It blows when the appliance overheats. It won't reset and must be replaced with the same rating. It is metal and about the size of a small resistor. Check it with your ohm meter (grill turned off).

we want to grill in the winter when its cold…but dont wanna use a george forman….

is there anything thats good to make steak and bbq chicken on?
like one of those things that goes over the stove burners?

i just cant see how many of those indoor grill things out there will effectively make bbq chicken….

any suggestions and tips will be great!
we have a presto non stick electric skillet, would that work for burgers or anything??
oh and nothing expensive!!
like under $80

I like my Calphalon grill pan. You can fit three to four nice size steaks on it. Easy to clean too.
