I have a panel for launching fireworks from a distance. It uses model rocket igniters to set off the fuses. The local hobby store doesn't sell them anymore, so I was thinking of using the electric igniter from a grill to light the fuses instead.

I'm not firmiliar with the ignition system you describe but check out the electric match kits at Skylighter: http://www.skylighter.com/mall/ignition.asp#GN5051

You have to get the dip kit and the ematch blanks below the kit on the page to make an electric match. I'm not really sure if those'll work with the system you've got but if you send them an email with the specs of the system I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make her memorial Day Onion Burgers. Also, as an added treat, Betty’s “ghost” husband Rick appears (at the request of many of you!)

Ingredients:

1 1/4 pounds ground beef
1 oz. envelope onion soup and dip mix
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce (optional)

In a large bowl, combine 1 1/4 pounds ground beef and a 1 oz. envelope of onion soup mix. Mix thoroughly. Add 2 tablespoons of barbecue sauce (if you want a smoky flavor). Form into 5 hamburger patties. Grill on an outdoor grill, or an electric kitchen grill, or fry them in a skillet. An outdoor grill gives the best results. Cook to the desired degree of doneness. Remove to a serving platter.

Menu suggestions:
You can serve these burgers on Kaiser buns, with mayonnaise, ketchup, or mustard with lettuce, tomato slices, Swiss or Cheddar cheese slices, sauted mushrooms and onions, etc. Accompanying dishes can be Betty’s Barbecue Bean Bake, Betty’s Homestyle Memorial Day Potato salad, and some potato chips, pickles, olives, and any other items of your choice. A great dessert for this meal is Betty’s Chocolate Turtle Dessert Pizza. Have a *great* cookout!!!

Supplies:
Heat source (in my case my stove), foil, 2 tweezers, butter knife, magnet (I cut up pieces from free business card magnets that I collect for this purpose)

Caution:
Items will be hot to the touch and burning plastic smells strongly. Well ventilated area is recommended.

Instructions:
Turn on your electric stove (medium to medium-high). Place a piece of foil on the burner. Pop out the eyeshadow from the compact by wedging knife into it. Place eyeshadow and compact onto foil. Pay close attention as the plastic melts quickly. First, check on the compact. When the edge of the label peels, it’s time to take it off with tweezers. Put label to the side. Second, using tweezers, lift up eyeshadow & check underneath it. Once it has a tiny hole melted through it, it is ready to be manipulated. Turn it upside down (do it off of the burner), and with tweezers press gently down on the pan. The side of the plastic will pry away from pan. Now, use tweezers to pull out pan from plastic. The glue is still gummy so stick a piece of magnet to the pan then the label over the magnet. You’re done!

Alternatives:
You don’t have an electric stove? You can use a frying pan on a gas stove. You can use an Electric Grill but I recommend changing the grill plate to the griddle plate. Always use foil–the plastic melts and gets messy and the glue is gummy. You can even try the burner on the coffee maker!

This method works for any brand of powder makeup. See my mixed palette–The Body Shop, Loreal, Body & Soul, Maybelline, Max Factor, Clinique, Dior to name a few.

Any questions, please contact me.

Teflon coating on Electric Grill peeling off - best thing to use to strip the coating all the way off ? Is their anything in the form like a paint stripping spray or etc.
Thanks Steve

Probably best if you throw it away and buy a new one.

it is an Whirlpool AKZ 451 fan assisted oven, to be precise but theres so many icons we dont know which to press to get the grill on… so we tried one which seemed to be working, it gave us to options 35 degrees or 60 degrees. But didnt seem to be getting hot enough. Then we tried another which gave us options 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 but then the oven started smoking so we turned it off and i came here lol.

Mine is a picture of a kebab.

On Food Network they are always using a stove top grill but they use gas cooking, does it work on electric ranges?

I would not recommend it. Electric stovetops themselves are etremely inconvienient. They heat unevenly. So when you put the stovetop grill on it, it will be heated unevenly. Serious cooks use gas grills, though they are difficult to maintain, but its television. So good luck.
